Chicago Bears release Victor Cruz

NFL: Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Hopefully you’ve got our Chicago Bears cut down tracker locked and loaded for frequent updates as the Bears whittle their off season roster down to 53 players.

But in case you missed any of the bigger name cuts, the Bears have released veteran wide out Victor Cruz. The Bears brought the 30 year old Cruz in a few months ago to add his savvy to a young receiving corps, but he wasn’t able to show enough during training camp or preseason. Perhaps he lost a little juice after suffering a torn patellar tendon in 2014 and a calf injury in 2015.

His 2016 season in New York wasn’t anywhere near his 2012 Pro Bowl performance. Last year with the Giants, he only managed 39 receptions for 586 yards, and with him not being able to stick with the Bears, who have a very questionable group of receivers, they may be the final stats of his career.
