Pernell McPhee will come off the Bears’ PUP list

NFL: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

After national reports circulated this morning that the Chicago Bears would start the 2017 season with outside linebacker Pernell McPhee on the PUP list (again), the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs said to pump the brakes on that report.

Biggs is now reporting that McPhee will be removed from the PUP list, meaning if healthy he’ll be lining up with his teammates week one against the Atlanta Falcons.

But since McPhee has yet to practice, it’s more likely the Bears will bring him along slowly, and we may even see him on the inactive list for a few weeks as he rounds back into shape.

With the earlier report that the Bears plan to place OLB Lamarr Houston on injured reserve, a healthy McPhee would provide a big boost to the Bears defense.

Keep it locked right here at WCG as we’ll have breaking Chicago Bears’ roster news all weekend long.
