John Timu Returns

The Bears continue tweaking their roster in preparation for Sunday’s showdown. This time, they waived a wide receiver to make room for a linebacker.

Fans of John Timu can rejoice, as the undrafted free agent out of Washington has returned to the Chicago Bears’ active roster. Since 2015, Timu has appeared in 18 games and has started 7 of them. He has been a player perpetually on the bubble, as he has moved from the practice squad and to the active roster at least a couple of times now.

In order to make room for Timu, the Bears waived wide receiver Tre McBride. McBride was a 7th-round draft pick for the Tennessee Titans back in 2015, but he failed to stick. Instead, he was on and off their practice squad before eventually getting claimed off waivers by the Bears in September.

While the Bears are thin at wide receiver, waiving McBride for Timu allows the team to bring on a linebacker with actual game experience while only losing a player whose potential as a receiver has yet to materialize.
