For as poorly/unlucky/lanky Glennon has played the one thing that is clear is that the Bears wide receivers are a joke. Perhaps the worst in the league. I can't buy the Deonte Thompson and Josh Bellamy are better than Tanner Gentry or anyone else on the waiver/other teams practice squads/Best Buy. At minimum Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton need to be the 1 and 2 receivers. The only time Thompson and Bellamy should see the field is on special teams.
Which brings me to the biggest error the Bears made this offseason: not paying Alshon Jeffrey.
They entered the 2017 season with no true #1 receiver and an up-and-comer at #2 who unfortunately got hurt. Cameron Meredith looks the goods and you can't do anything about him being hurt but to tab him your #1 after one solid season was a stretch. Kevin White is/was still a mystery (is he good? can he have the worst luck of anyone on the Bears? is he Mr. Glass?!?!?!). After that it was Thompson and Bellamy. So they did a good job of bringing in some proven, and at minimum mediocre, talent in Wheaton and Wright but now they have no #1 let alone a true #2.
I trust a lot of what Pace has been doing with the roster with the exception of the wide receiver position. "You can always recover from the player you didn't sign; you can't recover from the player you signed at the wrong price." - Ryan Pace. Mr Pace, you have the worst wide receiving core in the league and it's destroying your team. Time to recover from the player (Alshon Jeffrey) you didn't sign.
