Through three years, Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace has seemingly stuck to his philosophy on how to build a team. He’s generally gone with best player available in the draft, and he’s looked to fill needs via free agency. I don’t see him veering from that this season, but I do think he may adjust the types of free agents he targets. With this being year four of the rebuild, the Bears should be primed for an increase in wins, so adding a few long term players in free agency makes sense.
He may still nab a few guys on one-year prove-it types of deals, but if he’s serious about upgrading the talent on this roster for new head coach Matt Nagy, then it’s time to lock up some players for the long haul.
In my latest T Formation Conversation podcast (Subscribe now on iTunes for free), I’m joined by Andrew Link to discuss the Bears top needs this offseason, and we also name a few players we’d like to see the Bears target in free agency.
