EDITOR: With the Senior Bowl kicking off today at 1:30 pm Central on the NFL Network we wanted to refresh this article/podcast on our front page to get you ready for the game. Let us know some of the prospects you’ll be keeping an eye on.
Senior Bowl week is huge for fans of the NFL Draft. If you’re a draftnik, the Senior Bowl coverage by the NFL Network is just as must-see as the NFL Combine coverage. The East-West shrine game was last week, and that’s a big deal too, but the Senior Bowl traditionally has more legitimate NFL prospects playing in it. Many of the kids practicing this week will end up drafted, with some going on the first day. There will still be plenty of undrafted free agents out on the field in Mobile, Alabama, and the NFL scouts and coaches that are in attendance are looking for that diamond that fits their scheme to a T.
On my latest T Formation Conversation podcast (Subscribe now on iTunes for free!), I was joined by fellow WCG writer, Andrew Link, to talk about a few of his favorite prospects at the Senior Bowl and how they might fit in with the Chicago Bears. We hit on a couple likely first round targets, discuss a few mid round guys, and Andrew even goes over his draft crush.
We were having such a good time recording the podcast that I went a little longer than usual, so here’s basic outline of the show.
- Bears draft needs
- Marcus Davenport, University of Texas San Antonio
- Brian O’Neill, Pittsburgh
- Tight Ends
- Darius Phillips, Western Michigan
- Safety
- Shaquem Griffin, UCF
Give the show a listen, then let us know some of your favorite prospects that are playing down at the Senior Bowl.
