Walter Payton: One Man Band

In 1977, Walter Payton had arguably the greatest season by a running back in NFL History

Walter Payton went for 2,121 yards from scrimmage, and 16 touchdowns (in 14 games) during the 1977 season, leading a, frankly, otherwise not very good Bears team to the playoffs in the process. He won league MVP that season, and deservedly so. Perhaps more than any other, that was WALTER’S team. He was their everything. And he did not disappoint.

So check out this great video from NFL Throwback on Payton’s 1977 season, and where it stands in the Pantheon of all-time great running back seasons:

(since it contains NFL footage, you’ll have to watch it on youtube. Sorry, no embeds)
