Bears’ Bryce Callahan broke his foot and is headed to IR

NFL: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday night, Chicago Bears nickleback Bryce Callahan, who is having an outstanding season thus far, left the game with an apparent foot injury. It’s now being reported that he broke the fifth metatarsal in his foot and will be out for an unspecified amount of time. Elite Icons, a sports memorabilia company, was the first to leak the news, but it has since been confirmed by the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

With Bryce out, it will likely be Sherrick McManis filling in at the nickle spot. He’s an experienced veteran that has played the position in the past, but he is better known for his special teams prowess. He entered the Rams game when Bryce went out and ended up leading the Bears in tackles.

EDIT: The Bears announced on Wednesday that Callahan is heading to injured reserve, and to take his place on the roster they have signed five year veteran Marcus Williams who was recently cut by the Buccaneers on October 22nd.
