Last year, current Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy was the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, and he was at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis checking out the quarterback prospects. The Chiefs ended up drafting Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes with the tenth overall selection, but I wonder if they would have gone a different route had the kid from North Carolina still been on the board?
Check out the way Nagy is looking at Mitchell Trubisky in this video clip shared on the Chicago Bears’ Instagram post.
It was reported that the Chiefs were really high on him as a prospect, but the Bears moved up from three overall to take Trubisky with the second overall pick.
When Nagy was introduced as Bears head coach in January, he said part of the reason he picked Chicago was Trubisky. One look at this video and I think it’s safe to assume that it was a pretty big reason.
