The Chicago Bears have officially announced five new signings to their 90-man offseason roster. Each player participated on a tryout basis over the weekend at their rookie minicamp.

Here are the newest Bears:

  • John Franklin III from Florida Atlantic
  • Jeremi Hall from South Florida
  • Matt Fleming from Benedictine College
  • Tyrin Holloway from Western Illinois
  • Matt McCants, a six year veteran that most recently was with the Browns

Holloway, a 6’, 200 pound defensive back, played at Liberty the previous four years, but transferred to Western Illinois to pursue his masters in Executive Leadership in 2017. He had seven interceptions at Liberty, and three more with the Fighting Leathernecks last season.

Right tackle McCants (6’5”, 309) was a member of the Bears in 2016 and he apperaed in two games that year. He was originally a sixth round pick of the Giants in 2012.

To make room for these new players the Bears waived two offensive linemen, Travis Averill and Cameron Lee, and two linebackers, Howard Jones and Nyles Morgan.

Chicago’s first OTA will get going tomorrow from Halas Hall.
