On the heels on their official “unofficial” first depth chart of the 2018 season, the Chicago Bears made a roster move and messed it all up.

They have signed free agent, offensive lineman Jack Allen, who was originally an undrafted pick up by the New Orleans Saints in 2016. He was with the Saints for two years after his standout career at Michigan State where he was first-team All-American in 2015. In 2011, he was the Illinois state wrestling champion at 285 pounds for Hinsdale Central.

To make room for Allen, the Bears have waived undrafted free agent Bunmi Rotimi, a defensive lineman from Old Dominion.

The 25-year old Allen, a center by trade, was a four year starter for the Spartans, but he was a little undersized coming out of the combine at 6’1”, 294 pounds. He was a practice squad member of the Saints until a late season call up got him on their roster in 2016. He was waived with an injury designation in 2017 and spent last season out of football.

But, he does have this in his repertoire for Bears’ head coach Matt Nagy.
