This Chicago Bears were back at practice today in preparation for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and there was some good news from Halas Hall.

Starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was back on the field again, and head coach Matt Nagy said he was “cautiously optimistic” that his QB1 would be able to play on Sunday. He also said that backup QB Chase Daniel would receive plenty of reps this week, just in case.

Trubisky said he’s close to 100%, but he will wear a protective harness on his left shoulder. If the doctors clear him to play, and all signs point to that being the case, then Nagy said he won’t have any limitations on his usage. “His legs are a huge weapon for us,” Nagy said at today’s presser. “I’m an idiot if I take his legs away, because there are a lot of quarterbacks that don’t have his legs.”

Trubisky’s ability to scramble would be a big help with his offensive line still looking for some cohesion in pass protection.

Here’s the full practice report from the Bears today.
