The Chicago Bears have one of their cleanest injury reports on the 2019 season as they get ready to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The only player on the list this week is defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who received his usual questionable designation after being limited at Friday’s indoor practice.
The Bears are still shorthanded up front with Akiem Hicks on injured reserve, but they did sign veteran defensive lineman Brent Urban this week.
Defensive back and special teams ace Sherrick McManis, who was held out of practice earlier this week with a concussion, was back practicing in full today.
The Chargers meanwhile, have the following players on their injury report this week.
OUT
Nasir Adderley, S (Hamstring)
Cortez Broughton, DT (Illness/Mono)
Justin Jones, DT (Shoulder)
Brandon Mebane, NT (Knee)
Both Jones and Mebane are starters for the Chargers, so they are very short on the defensive line this week. They may need to make a roster move to ensure they have enough up front.
QUESTIONABLE
Melvin Ingram III, DE (Hamstring)
Keenan Allen, WR (Hamstring)
Justin Jackson, RB (Calf)
Derek Watt, FB (Knee)
Michael Badgley, K (Groin)
Charger head coach Anthony Lynn said that Michael Badgley won’t kick on Sunday and they’ll go with rookie Chase McLaughlin who has kicked the last three weeks. During his time filling in he hasn’t missed an extra point and he’s 5 for 7 on field goals.
Melvin Ingram was limited earlier this week but was full go today, so it’s likely he plays, but Keenan Allen has been held out the last two days with his hammy issue so we’ll need to wait and see on Sunday if he can go.
The Chargers are also missing Pro Bowlers Mike Pouncey (center) and Derwin James (safety) who are among the 11 players they have on injured reserve.
