Livestreamed Analysis: Trubisky, Run Scheme, Defense, and More!

Robert S. talks through Sunday’s Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints game while taking questions from an online audience and breaking down as many plays as possible.

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Bears fans, this Sunday’s game against the Saints was frustrating to watch. Not only did the defense’s issues against the run continue, but the Bears trotted out another inept offensive performance made up of troublesome QB play, a franchise-low 7 rushing carries, and generally poor execution by everyone other than Allen Robinson. A close 12-10 game at halftime, the contest unravelled into a 36-10 blowout by its end before the Bears picked up two garbage-time touchdowns for a final score of 36-25. To say the least, it wasn’t the game any of us expected.

Unfortunately, the Bears’ cataclysmic loss wasn’t the only disaster of the day — my apartment in Dallas was quite literally hit by a tornado later Sunday evening (everyone is safe!), so I didn’t have either the electricity nor the internet connection needed to analyze the game until Thursday evening. Because of this, I decided to do another livestream — I spent about an hour and a half talking about tons of Bears topics, including...

  • Analysis of the passing game, differentiating between “Nagy Mistakes” and “Trubisky Mistakes”...
  • Discussion of the running game and why Matt Nagy’s scheme looks like part of the problem (including insights from Jason McKie)...
  • Breakdowns of who did and who didn’t perform on defense...
  • Reasons both for and against trading for a QB on Tuesday’s deadline...
  • And much, much more

Check the stream out below and let me know what you think!

But enough from me, what did you think of Sunday’s game against the Saints? How do you expect the Bears to fare against the Chargers?
