We had high hopes. Very high. Almost all of us. We were sure the arrows were pointing up. Waaaay up. This was the year. The Bears were contenders.
That was then and this is now. Seven weeks into the 2019 season that vision is gone. Replaced with an average record, a last-place standing in the division and an almost non-existent shot at making the playoffs.
So where do the Bears go from here? The trade deadline came and went and Chicago stood pat. Right or wrong, the players currently inside Halas Hall will decide the near future of this team. EJ and first-time Bears Over Beers guest Bill Zimmerman break down the loss to the Chargers at home, what the Bears options are for the rest of the year, and even peek into some offseason possibilities that could set Chicago up for the 2020 campaign.
After that there is still the matter of the upcoming Eagles game. Will the Bears roll in as worthy challengers, or simply wilt in one of the toughest road stadiums in the league? EJ and Bill give their keys to the game, and always there are the beers.
Beers:
EJ: 10 Barrel Brewing - Pray for Snow Winter Ale / Bill: Coniston Brewing - Bluebird Bitter
