David Blough will start at quarterback for Thursday’s game vs. Chicago. Jeff Driskel will serve as the backup quarterback. pic.twitter.com/4CoML7YMuK— Detroit Lions (@Lions) November 28, 2019
Blough is an undrafted rookie out of Purdue, where he started 44 games, threw for 9,734 yards, 69 TD and 43 INT.
Chicago is facing the Lions for the second time in three games and last time they also had a surprise starter as hours before the game it was announced that Matthew Stafford would miss the game due to a back injury that’s kept him out since.
Back up Jeff Driskel, who made his first start against the Bears popped up on the injury report Monday with a hamstring issue, but with the team not announcing any roster moves, some analysts figured that Driskel would start.
Not to be and the struggling Bears catch another break. Driskel serving as the back up suggests he is close to being able to go, but it still seems dicey.
Will the Bears make it pay off or will this end up being all the more embarrassing if they lose to an undrafted rookie third string quarterback making his first start?
