He’s only been a member of the Chicago Bears since 2018, but wide out Allen Robinson feels like he’s home. “I’ve really enjoyed my two years,” Robinson told Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun Times. “We’ve won a lot of games. From an organization standpoint, it’s a top-flight organization and coaching staff.”
With only one more year remaining on the three-year contract he signed on March 14, 2018, he’s a prime candidate for a contract extension, and with him playing like a true number one receiver, it seems like a no-brainer for general manager Ryan Pace.
Robinson’s current deal averages $14 million a year, which places him as the 14th highest paid receiver in the NFL, and considering he won’t turn 27-years old until August, he’s likely to get a raise with his next contract.
His versatility makes him a good fit for Matt Nagy’s system, so it makes sense that he’d want to stick around, and if a fair deal ends up on the table from Pace, he would sign. “Yeah, definitely,” Robinson told the Sun Times. “There’s a lot that goes into it... but as far as how comfortable I am here and how much I like it here, I definitely would foresee spending many more years here.”
Robinson has a goal of being the best receiver to ever play in Chicago. “I would love to be the Bears’ all-time leading receiver,” he said. “With the longevity of the organization and players who have come before here, goals like that are big. Being the all-time leading receiver for a franchise like the Chicago Bears is special.”
After just 26 career games in Chicago he’s 42nd in receiving yards all-time (1,652) and 43rd in receptions (131), but considering he’s only 3,047 yards behind Johnny Morris’ franchise leading 5,059 yards and 361 catches behind Walter Payton’s 492, he could conceivably become tops on each list in about 4 years.
