What is the Bears’ top need?

After a week of free agency, what is the Bears’ most pressing need right now?

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

With only two starting positions not under contract when the 2018 season ended, the needs for the 2019 Chicago Bears were fairly cut and dried. Chicago needed to address the starting safety spot opposite Eddie Jackson, and they needed to figure out nickleback. General manager Ryan Pace decided to go outside the team for both positions by picking up safety HaHa Clinton-Dix and nickle Buster Skrine.

With those two positions locked up, that leaves the special teams trio of kicker, long snapper, and punter to hash out in the coming weeks, although there are a couple placekickers currently on the roster. But with that being said, does anyone believe the Bears are done adding competition at kicker with only untested Chris Blewitt and Redford Jones signed?

Free agent Patrick O’Donnell might be the best punter out there, but considering the Bears tried replacing him the last couple of offseasons, I think they look elsewhere.

EDIT: O’Donnell is back on a 2-year deal.

Long snapper Patrick Scales, whom they elected not to tender, could come back on a cheaper deal.

Aaron Lynch, who just had a solid season as their number three outside linebacker, is an unrestricted free agent, and there has been no chatter about him returning. The Bears also cut Sam Acho, leaving Kylie Fitts and Isaiah Irving as the only returning OLBs, and neither made an impact in 2018.

You can check out which players are still unsigned on this Top 103 Free Agent list from SB Nation, but make sure you vote in our poll below for the position you feel is Chicago’s top need right now.

This could all change with the next signing, but play along for now.
