When compiling a list of the top 10 most important Chicago Bears for the upcoming season, there are a lot of factors one could think about before settling in on their list. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that it’s 100% subjective. There is no quantifying metric for “importance,” so what ever anyone comes up with will be based on their own personal criteria. Here’s what we’ve had in mind around here for the last eleven years of this series.
“What potential impact they may have, how much the team will look to the individual for guidance or leadership, how badly the team would suffer if they lost the player to injury, and other intangible attributes.”
Another thing we’ve always done is opened the list up to specific positions, position groups, and even coaches. Again, it’s a subjective list. You may not feel that the new starting offensive tackles or a coordinator implementing a scheme deserves to be judged alongside the starting middle linebacker, but that’s part of what makes our list a fun talking point for the WCG members every offseason.
But if you’re the kind of commenter that gets triggered if the list doesn’t go the way you think it should go, then I suggest a switch to decaf may be in order.
