Bears Over Beers: 2020 Senior Bowl Recap

Season 2 of Bears Over Beers launches with a round-up of EJ’s trip to his first Senior Bowl week in Mobile, AL.

The 2020 Senior Bowl college all-star game is in the books. The North team lead by Lion’s coach Matt Patricia dominated the South team coached by the Bengals Zac Taylor with a final score of 34-17. But the biggest winners were college seniors (and graduated juniors) who were invited for the week of practices and events in Mobile, AL and got to show the decision-makers in the NFL what they can really do against other top competition.

The Senior Bowl is the kickoff event that drives the entire NFL Draft process into full swing. The Senior Bowl staff knows the football public’s hunger for news about their favorite players that they watched in college or the pro teams they root for who are looking to improve through this year’s draft. It’s in their best interest to maximize the visibility of the entire and week and as such they have opened up the event in recent years to “new” media sources.

As a result of that newfound openness The Senior Bowl invited interested analysts from the SB Nation draft community to attend. EJ Snyder was quick to answer the call and headed to Mobile for his very first live Senior Bowl week experience. Jeff and EJ kickoff Season 2 by quickly covering the Bears team needs, sharing some fun backgrounds stories about the event and then getting down to the important stuff: highlighting some of the players (at the Bears positions of need) that had solid performances in front of the NFL scouts in attendance.

So listen along for EJ’s brushes with pro draft analysts, NFL coaches, scouts, and even an NFL Hall-of-Famer! Chip in to the comments section below with your thoughts on who had a great Senior Bowl week and who you might like to see on the Bears next fall.
