Over the Cap has the contract details for Eddie Jackson’s extension, and even though he is now the highest paid safety in the NFL by average per year, it looks like another fine structured deal by the Chicago Bears.
Jackson’s extension was for five-years with $58,400,000 in new money, and he receives a $12 million signing bonus with $22 million guaranteed.
The deal gives him a slight bump for the 2020 season as his new cap hit will be only be $3,716,452, so there will still be enough money for general manager Ryan Pace to get creative in free agency. Right now the Bears are sitting around $23 million with a couple cap casualties that could boost that number up.
From 2021 ($11,450,000) to 2024 ($16,550,000) his cap number goes up each year, but as we’ve grown accustomed to seeing, the Bears have a comfortable out after the 2022 season.
Now that you’ve seen the details, how do you feel about the deal?
