Rumors started circulating on Thursday about the Chicago Bears re-signing defensive back Marqui Christian to the practice squad, but there was nothing on the NFL’s waiver wire.

On Friday there were some reports from the beat writers that they were bringing him back, but again, nothing on the wire.

The team never really announced it either, but he does appear on their practice squad roster list from their site, and on their site’s 2020 transactions page, so that’s official enough for me. To make room for him they released linebacker Sharif Finch from the practice squad.

With the amount of injuries to their secondary, I would not be surprised to see Christian promoted for Monday night’s game and active against the Rams. Their final injury list will be announced after Saturday’s practice, but for now safety Deon Bush has been limited after missing the last two games, and neither Sherrick McManis nor Buster Skrine has practiced the first two days this week, so depth and special teams help could be needed.

The Bears did have one move go through the wire today however, as rookie offensive lineman Badara Traore was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and is back on the practice squad.

There’s one more practice squad nugget that may have slipped by, and that’s quarterback Tyler Bray being the Bears lone protected practice squadder this week.
