Gale Sayers was the most effortlessly gifted running back of all time. Watching him run was like watching a Ballet. Walter Payton, while still gifted, simply out worked everyone on the field. Watching him run was like watching Bruce Lee. Effort incarnate. Violently beautiful.
So when I started seeing discussiosn about what team had the best running backs in history, I was a little befuddled. Befuddlement turned to absolute SHOCK when the answers weren’t unanimously “The Bears, stupid!”

I mean, in my opinion, even if we ONLY counted Gale and Walter, this contest would go to the Bears. But when you factor in ALL the great backs that have suited up in Navy and Orange in the past century, it isn’t even close. Bears runners are simply, Legendary.
So, I felt compelled to cut together this little highlight reel of Gale and Walter, just to nail the point home. Enjoy.
