Earlier today the Chicago Bears activated rookie offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons from their Reserve/COVID-19 list. He originally went on the list before the Bears played the Tennessee Titans on November 8.
Simmons was promoted from the practice squad on November 3 for the Titans game due to other COVID related roster moves and injuries along the offensive line. He had spent the first eight weeks of the season on the practice squad.
This activation places him back on the Bears 53-man roster, but with health along the o-line getting better the Bears could eventually make a move to get him back down to the practice squad.
In case you missed it yesterday, the 2-game suspension for wide receiver Javon Wims is over and he is back on the active roster.
Chicago’s roster is currently at 52 players as they have an newly signed DeAndre Carter on the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list. That list is only used on special circumstances as approved by the Commissioner himself. It could have something to do with COVID or it could be related to Wims’ suspension just ending. I’m sure at some point we’ll get some clarification as to Carter’s roster status and if it’s anything out of the ordinary we’ll pass the info along here at WCG.
