Every team in the NFL is either below .500 (16 teams) or over .500 (15 teams) except one, the 5-5 Chicago Bears.
It just doesn’t get any more Bears than that.
Not quite good enough to make the playoffs and not quite bad enough to ensure a top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Sure, the Bears are displayed on those fancy “In the hunt” postseason graphics, but their playoff odds are dwindling each and every week. The Bears only have two games remaining against teams with a winning record (both games against the Packers), but they also have the Vikings, whom they lost to a week ago, the Texans and Deshaun Watson, the Jaguars and the Lions left this season. That looks like a likely 8-8 finish to me.
Currently the Bears are slated to be picking with the 16th overall selection, and that’s probably around the spot they end up. That should get them a day one contributor, but this team is in desperate need for a franchise quarterback.
The good news is there seems to be six possible first round QBs in this draft, but with the way teams overdraft that position I would expect all the QB needy teams to look to move up.
As Bears fans we all obviously want to see the Bears win a championship, but that seems unlikely with the state of the offense.
So, if we’re to assume that isn’t in the cards, what would you like to see happen?
