Windy City Gridiron first came over to SB Nation back on November 2, 2005, and while that was well before my time as a part of this site, we’ve always had the same goal around here.
We want to provide fun and insightful Chicago Bears opinion, analysis, and content to the best of our ability. We’re a site run by Bears fans for Bears fans, and with so many different levels of fandom out there we try to give everyone something to enjoy.
But we know that without you guys — the WCG Members, readers, listeners, and viewers — that there would be no Windy City Gridiron.
Thanks to all you guys and gals for stopping by to check out what we’re doing each and every day. We truly appreciate you.
I also want to send a thank you to the staff here at Windy City Gridiron. You guys have helped take our Bears coverage to another level with podcast and video content now added to the great stuff we can all read each day.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Some of our staffers wanted to personally weigh in on this thank you as well...
Dear fellow Bears fans:
Thank you for bearing with us (pun definitely intended) throughout 2020, as we’ve all faced new and unique challenges.
I could go on and on, but I won’t, because it all comes down to one thing and one thing only.
Thank you very much for being a part of the WCG family.
Ken Mitchell
A safe, restful, and Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone at Windy City Gridiron.
None of what we do or what we accomplish would be possible without your support and without the incredible community that’s grown here over the years.
We may have our occasional petty and contentious differences, but in the end, we are all Bears fans and we are all family.
Thank you all, sincerely, for being there every step of the way.

To all of my fellow Bears fans and peeps out there,
I know it’s been a tough year. Really, everything about 2020 has just been awful. Whether it was because of politics, COVID, or...the Bears, we all likely know someone that has been feeling low for a while. Times have been tougher than any year in recent memory.
We’re almost at the new year. Just hang in there, and we all will get out of this dumpster fire together.
I’ll always be thankful for being a part of such an elite group of writers here at WCG. I’ll always be thankful for being a part of this fanbase, period. Since 2010, it’s been an incredible ride, and we’ll always be who we think we are. The best damn fanbase on the planet. I look forward to the day when we see a consistently great football team at Soldier Field. Meanwhile, let’s all just kick back, and enjoy our time with family and loved ones.
Bear Down.

I’ve been reading articles and Bears Dens on WCG for years, and sometimes I have to step back and appreciate the fact that these fine people let me contribute content on this site. I’m very thankful for that, and of course for anybody who reads and comments on things I write. 2020 has been such a strange year, and the Bears aren’t playing as well as I’d like. Even still, they have won a few games and I’m thankful that I’ve been able to see them.

Dear WCG,
I cannot express enough how lucky I feel to represent this community — from back when I started browsing Dens in 2013 (that was Spongie, right?) all the way to now, WCG has stood tall and resolute as a place where Bears fans all over the world can gather together and argue about Jay Cutler talk through the team’s ups and downs, both on a week-to-week basis mid-season and a move-to-move basis in the offseason. It was on this very website that I first learned about...
- How the NFL’s salary cap works (thanks Vince and others!)
- How to properly articulate a point through both stats-based and film-based analysis (thanks MDC, Romanf, tfrabotta, and others!)
- How NFL offensive line play is more complicated than it seems (thanks Lester!)
- How the Bears’ history is a bit more complicated than I’d like it to be (thanks Jack!)
And countless other lessons (often taught by members in the comment sections!) that have all combined to make me into exactly who I am today.
I’m honored that I can create content for a wonderful community like this that, through debate, is constantly searching for the best Chicago Bears team possible. And though I know I have (and will) make plenty of mistakes in my writing, speaking, and other content-creation, I’m so proud to represent WCG and that’s all because of members like you.
Thank you so, so much for reading, watching, and listening.

Not only do I want to thank all of you, dear readers, who truly make this site go by reading, commenting, sharing, listening and following but also to my fellow staff here.
We may not have ever met in real life or if we have, it’s been very brief, but I feel like we’re family and friends.
WCG is more than a blog, it is a family. From the staff to the commenters to everyone else, it’s a great place to be and we all want the same thing: a successful Bears team, even if we all disagree on how to make that.
Thank you all for everything and may you be making the best of this crazy, wild year. All the best to you and your families and may the Bears finally figure out how to put a consistent winner of the field.

Thanksgiving is meant for family. And as dysfunctional as we all may be at times, that’s what we are. We’re Bears fans. We bicker. We moan. We commiserate. And then we band together to cheer and support one another. No place represents that for me, more than WCG. So thank you to all you members that I’ve hung out and interacted with for the past decade. I can’t count how many discussions we’ve had, jokes we’ve shared, and memes we’ve beaten into the ground. Thank you to the staff that I’ve been informed and entertained by, and for the past few seasons have called my colleagues and friends. Thank you to the Bears, who as frustrating as they can be, have brought us all together. And thank you to alcohol, which has made it all bearable ; )
So, from your extended family, Bear Down, and have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone!
