Things haven’t been very fun for Chicago Bears fans the last month, so it was a welcome distraction when the latest set of SB Nation Reacts poll questions had a Thanksgiving twist to them.
All three poll questions were centered around food, with two asking which dish we should get rid of, but that third one was an open ended question asking our Reacts voters the following question.
If the Bears were a Thanksgiving food item, which item would they be?
There were a few directions I figured our voters would go, with all on leaning towards the the snarky end of things, but kudos to all the fans that wrote in the following.
I never imagined this as an answer, but it makes sense.
I went with green bean casserole, because when done right it’s an outstanding side dish and can complement any Thanksgiving dinner, but 9 times out of 10 it tastes like shit.
And that ties into this next question.
Like I said, I’m a fan of a well done green bean casserole, so my vote on this poll was for sweet potato casserole. I don’t like sweet potatoes or yams made in any way or fashion, so this was an easy one for me. My wife makes some sort of yam, brown sugar, butter, and marshmallow side dish that makes no sense to me. It looks and smells like a dessert, but it’s served with the turkey.
Hard pass on that bowl of sweet slop.
I agree wholeheartedly on this next one however.
Again, I’m not a fan of sweet potatoes at all, so get that pie out of here.
The other three are all fine, but when it comes to pies my new favorite is a caramel apple pie that I get at I can only find at Meijer.
Warm a slice up and serve it with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and you’ll thank me.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
