Windy City Gridiron picks Bears-Vikings

Their postseason hopes still technically alive, the Bears must overcome Minnesota first.

Never say die. It’s an attitude that serves the best football teams when they’re down and out. It’s a mentality the desperate Bears have to carry him with them through the rest of the 2020 season.

At 6-7, already down one game to Arizona, and head-to-head tiebreakers sitting in the Vikings’ favor, Chicago has only a 20 percent chance to make this year’s playoffs. That’s according to statistical database, FiveThirtyEight. The Bears do not control their own destiny. In addition to winning out likely being an absolute necessity, they will need some help from their NFC peers down the stretch (hello, Philadelphia) if they’re going to be playing meaningful do-or-die games in January.

But that piece of the puzzle is something they can’t be concerned about for the time being. It’s out of their hands. They can only control what’s in front of them: Their games on their schedule. After a 36-7 drubbing of the Texans last weekend, Mitchell Trubisky and company are looking to carry the same energy into Minneapolis. Whatever faint hopes they still have, another unfortunate defeat to the Vikings and a season sweep would essentially end all reasonable postseason discussions. There is no margin for error anymore.

The “In The Hunt” Bowl is on.
