Bears Over Beers: Burn It All Down?

Has this Bears team’s window slammed shut?

NFL: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The time has come to talk the real talk. The hard words that outline where the Bears really are and what they might have to do if they want to climb out of the NFL cellar and back to position of prominence in the league.

This is a flawed football team with a host of issues and many tough decisions to make in the very near future. We dig in and tackle the toughest questions: Who stays? Who goes? Can the Bears ever find a decent QB? Listen up as we walk through the good, the bad, and the ugly of what a pending rebuild might look like.

To be clear: the Bears are not short on talent, but they are not a good TEAM right now. Changes have to be made. Some of those will not be fun or easy... but if the Bears want to claw their way back to the top of the division and eventually the conference, they’ve got some heavy lifting to do.

This might not be the most fun episode we’ve ever done but we do think it’s fair. We tell you what we would do if the Bears were asking us (they haven’t called yet, but we are holding out a slim hope). Some of the choices are fairly easy and obvious and some are much, much more difficult. Through them all we share our reasoning and how we arrived at the choice.

As always, we want to know what you think. Drop your thoughts in the comments section below about:

  • Where you think this Bears team is now
  • Who stays and who you would never ship out of town
  • Finally - did our proposed changes go far enough? Too far?

Chime in and join the conversation now.
