Which young Bear do you think will take a step forward in 2020?

Plenty of young Chicago Bears either took a step sideways or backwards in 2019, but which do you think will take a step forward in the new year?

Young player development is complicated, and it’s not often linear — between coaching changes, injuries, and even positional switches, most NFL players are bound to run into an obstacle or two on the road to their proverbial ceiling. In fact, it’s often how a player navigates these obstacles that determines the trajectory of the rest of their NFL career.

The Chicago Bears have plenty of youngsters that have suffered many of the obstacles described above — between Mitchell Trubisky surviving regime change, Roquan Smith and Anthony Miller struggling with injuries, and James Daniels playing multiple positions on the offensive line, it’s more than fair to say that many of the Bears’ talented young players have suffered setbacks early in their career and are likely looking at the upcoming 2020 season as an opportunity to prove themselves. But... well, who will?

I took to twitter the other day and posted a poll asking exactly this, and the results were much more even than I expected:

Truly, I didn’t expect those results to be quite so even. So I want to post the same question to you, our wonderful WCG readers — which Chicago Bears’ player do you think (not hope!) is most likely to improve in 2020?

Personally, I voted for Anthony Miller and I stand by that. While he’s certainly made plenty of mental mistakes and has yet another shoulder injury to overcome, he plays a position where “talent wins” and certainly has plenty of talent. Considering how often he was open both this year and last year despite the injuries he dealt with, he’s my choice for 2020’s “most likely to improve” of the players I chose above and, should the Bears change things up at QB, could look to crack 700 yards next year.

Who’s your choice?
