Free agency officially gets underway today at 3:00 PM Central time and that’s when all the “signings” from the last two days can become official. All those trades that were agreed upon can be official as well, so expect a flurry of announcements once the league year starts.

But keep in mind that until the players pass physicals with their new teams then nothing is officially official, and that could be several weeks from now.

So far the Chicago Bears have agreed in principle with tight end Jimmy Graham and outside linebacker/defensive end Robert Quinn, and they’ve also let Leonard Floyd out of the fifth year option.

The full list of transactions involving the Bears can be found below the horizontal line, and for the latest news and rumors just keep reading...

9:00 AM: From Jonathan Jones, Senior NFL reporter for CBS Sports, “The Panthers have been in recent contact with the Bears regarding Cam Newton, per source. The expectation is Newton will be released in the coming days, but CHI may not want to compete in the market for him.”

8:15 AM: Brad Biggs says to expect some internal moves from the Bears today that will create additional salary cap space. (link)

March 17: The search for a veteran quarterback continues and in the last few days the Bears have been linked to Nick Foles, Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, and Derek Carr. All four of those QBs are under contract and would require a trade or for the Bears to wait for one or two to be released.
