NFL Free Agency 2020: Wednesday’s Bears news & rumor tracker

The NFL may be shutting the doors to all 32 facilities, but we’re always open for business at Windy City Gridiron!

The Chicago Bears didn’t do a damn thing yesterday, nor did they lose any of their free agent players, which made for a quiet Tuesday around WCG. The biggest news around the NFL was the Carolina Panthers releasing quarterback Cam Newton and the revelation that they approached the Bears about a possible trade. But with Newton’s injury the Bears didn’t want to give up whatever Carolina was asking for.

The only thing new to our tracker was a couple players that were signed long before free agency started, so since I was reminded about Tre Roberson and Demetrius Harris I added them to the list.

Check out the top 100 free agents still available from NFL Trade Rumors and let us know which players you think are realistic options for the Bears.

The full list of Bears’ transactions can be found below the horizontal line, and for the latest news and rumors today just keep reading as we’ll be updating this tracker all day long...

4:48 PM: Not free agency related, but the Bears FaceTimed with NFL Draft prospect Denzel Mims, a wide out from Baylor. (link)

With such a deep class of wide outs, the Bears could pass on finding a Taylor Gabriel replacement in free agency and look to draft one at some point.

3:59 PM: The Bears are bringing back Tyler Bray, and as a reminder, he is practice squad eligible thanks to the new CBA. (link)

1:22 PM: The Bears have signed offensive lineman Germain Ifedi to a one-year deal. (link)

12:10 PM: It’s been floated by a beat writer or two, and now Bleacher Report is putting it out there as well about the Bears cutting ties with tight end Trey Burton. It would only be a cap savings of a million with $7.5 million in dead cap space, so the only way I see them getting rid of him is if he’s simply not healthy. (link)

Tuesday, March 24: The only “buzz” Chicago fans got came courtesy of Cordarrelle Patterson who continues to link free agents up with the Bears. His latest was former Raven, Raider, and Jet, Kelechi Osemele, who plays offensive line, and XFL defensive lineman Toby Johnson.
