The Bears are already back on the clock just seven selections after their first. In case you missed that, they took TE Cole Kmet from Notre Dame. And the reaction is here.
With the 50th pick they have selected Utah CB Jaylon Johnson. Brad Biggs of the Tribune is spoiling the picks tonight and had it first.
#Bears are selecting Utah CB Jaylon Johnson with the 50th overall pick.

This one seemed to go over better than the Kmet selection.
Big, physical press corner who can run, Johnson gives #Bears a potential future CB1 and new sidekick for Kyle Fuller. There's your Prince Amukamara replacement.

I'm good with Jaylon Johnson too
— Lorin Cox (@CoxSports1) April 25, 2020
Without shoulder surgeries over his career, top-15 pick.

Big-time talent, just hope he can stay healthy. https://t.co/HJxqx3anyq

Cole Kmet/Jaylon Johnson is a terrific approach to the second round.

- Jacob Infante brings us a film breakdown on Jaylon Johnson’s game right here.
- EJ Snyder’s grade for the Jaylon Johnson pick is right here.
At the very least, #Bears drafted two starters that will play in 2020.

I love the Jaylon Johnson pick! He's a first round talent, without a doubt. Big, good speed, good awareness, played hurt. Johnson was the guy I was pulling for at 43 to be honest, I really like the kid's game.
— Ken Mitchell (@WCGBearsDenDude) April 25, 2020
Ok. Jaylon Johnson was definitely on the list of names I was wishing for!
— Opinion Bear (@OpinionBear) April 25, 2020
Cole Kmet and Jaylon Johnson is a good haul. I would have gone in different direction at 43 but overall I can't complain too much. #beardown

I LOVE that pick
— Armchair Deion (@PayDaMann) April 25, 2020
I'm a big fan of Jaylon Johnson, totally on board with that pick but that's a really bad value for Kmet at 43. Never draft need, draft BPA. They drafted need and passed on more talented players. That's why you trade back. #Bears
— Bill Zimmerman (@ZimmermanSXM) April 25, 2020
#Bears stay at No. 50 & take CB Jaylon Johnson Utah. Nice pick there.
— Aaron Leming (@AaronLemingNFL) April 25, 2020
Jaylon Johnson. Sensible pick here. Solid corner. Bears will have to wait until tomorrow (unless they trade up!!) to draft guys at WR, OL and safety, if they do at all.
— JJ Stankevitz (@JJStankevitz) April 25, 2020
No one would have blinked if Jaylon Johnson had been picked in the 20s of the first round. Excellent value for the Bears.

Really happy with this pick and you should be too #bears fans https://t.co/WN2GJPTRVJ

One of my favorite DB's in the entire draft. I don't love the Kmet pick, but Johnson is a stud. #Bears
— Blake Van Poucke (@SoldierFieldBlg) April 25, 2020
The Jaylon Johnson pick is great. I love that pick.
— Tom Fornelli (@TomFornelli) April 25, 2020
TE, CB isn’t the start I wanted, but it was imperative to get a corner or a safety at least.
For even more on Jaylon Johnson, check out this mini-podcast from Robert Schmitz and his two special guests, our Lead Draft Analyst Jacob Infante and our Senior Draft Analyst EJ Snyder!
The Bears are currently done picking tonight, but could Ryan Pace trade one of next year’s picks to get back into a deeply talented draft tonight? Especially with the uncertainty of the 2020 college football season, it might make sense to trade a future pick.
