NFL Draft Results 2020: Bears take Trevis Gipson with the 155th overall pick in the 5th round

With the 155th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected Trevis Gipson, an edge defender from Tulsa, and they traded a 4th round pick in 2021 to the Minnesota Vikings to do so.

Gipson checked in at 6’3”, and 261 pounds at the NFL Combine, and while he didn’t test there he had a nice week of practice at the Senior Bowl that helped him stand out. It was also at the Senior Bowl where he had an opportunity to talk with Bears scouts.

He was a basketball star in high school, but he choose football and the Golden Hurricane’s after being lightly recruited.

He red-shirted in 2015 and wasn’t a full time starter until 2018, but in his two years starting he had 12 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, and 7 forced fumbles.
