With the 173rd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected Tulane wide receiver Darnell Mooney after a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears sent picks 196, 200, and 233 to Philly in exchange for picks 173 and 227.
Mooney is the deep, ‘take the top off the defense’ threat that Bears’ fans have been hoping for, and his 4.38 forty speed pops on film. He’s only 5’10”, 176 pounds, but head coach Matt Nagy will be able to scheme the ball into his hands to let him outrun defenders.
He played outside and in the slot for the Green Wave, and he finished his career with 154 receptions, 2,572 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
Here’s his spider-graph from Mockdraftable.com.
We have even more on Darnell Mooney in this mini-podcast from Robert Schmitz, where he’s joined by our Lead Draft Analyst Jacob Infante and our Senior Draft Analyst EJ Snyder.
