Strap in for the last four rounds of the draft today as the Bears entered the day with five selections, one in round five and then two each in rounds six and seven.
But then Bears started their day with a trade up, with division rival Vikings no less, in the fifth round, sending them a 4th rounder in 2021 to get pick 155 in order to select Trevis Gipson, a defensive end from Tulsa. The trade included no 2020 picks so the Bears will have six picks today, unless there are more trades.
According to Brad Biggs, the move included a 2021 pick, because Ryan Pace can’t help himself.
#Bears traded a 4th rd pick in 2021 to the #Vikings for this 5th rd pick. Minnesota started day with 13 picks so no surprise Vikes are looking to flip picks for the future.

Here’s how Twitter reacted, to both the trade and the the reaction seemed to be mostly positive:
As we all expected, the Bears traded up for Tulsa DE Trevis Gipson.

The #Bears have traded up 8 spots in the fifth round to take Tulsa EDGE Trevis Gipson.

Not gonna lie, I really like this value for them. He’s an athletic and productive edge rusher who will give them much-needed depth there. Thread soon...
Bears draft DE Trevis Gipson.

Lance Zierlein has his NFL comp as: Roy Robertson-Harrison.
Scouting report from @dpbrugler: "Gipson is fundamentally raw and doesn’t rush with an instinctive plan of attack, but his contact-driven mentality, physical nature and long arms are intriguing foundation traits if the rest can be developed, projecting as an upside prospect."

Depth at the edge position was needed. Don’t mind the Gipson pick one bit. #Bears

Just watched Trevis Gipson highlights and the first thing that stands out is the arms. I feel like he could scratch his knees standing straight up. #Bears

There’s the Bears’ new 3rd OLB. I like it. https://t.co/3tSbI7wuic
