Another trade up?!
Ryan Pace keeps dealing, this time with the Eagles. According to the Fish Man, Kevin Fishbain, the trade included three of Chicago’s remaining picks but netted them two:
The Bears traded 196, 200 and 233 to the Eagles for 173 and 227.
— Kevin Fishbain (@kfishbain) April 25, 2020
So their remaining picks are 226 and 227.
The reaction to yet another trade up was, as expected, somewhat negative.
Find some body that looks at you the way Ryan Pace looks at Day 3 of the draft

The Ryan Pace draft day trade drinking game is in full swing today.

In the Mooney deal, the #Bears gave up Picks 196, 200 and 2033 and the #Eagles gave up Picks 173 (Mooney) and 227.

The #Bears have 2 picks left: 226 and 227 pic.twitter.com/H1JVn8KkMN
As for the player they took, it seems like a lot of people are generally positive towards Mooney. The guy can flat out fly, with 4.3 speed, something the Bears offense has sorely lacked.
Here’s what Twitter had to say about Mooney:
I have watched a lot of Tulane cuz Willie Fritz is awesome. Mooney is fast. He could be the vertical threat the offense sorely lacks. Fine with the pick.

The #Bears have traded up yet again, selecting Tulane WR Darnell Mooney with the No. 173 pick.
— Jacob Infante (@jacobinfante24) April 25, 2020
I am in LOVE with this selection! Mooney is a dynamic athlete who is a perfect fit for what they need at the receiver position. Thread coming soon...
Darnell Mooney ran a 4.38 40-yard dash. He fast.
— JJ Stankevitz (@JJStankevitz) April 25, 2020
#Bears use 5th rd pick at No. 173 overall to select Tulane WR Darnell Mooney, who I am told by one scout "can fly." Figured speed would fit profile of what team was seeking at receiver.

#Bears trade up and take Tulane WR Darnell Mooney at 173 overall... There's your Taylor Gabriel replacement. Ran a 4.38 forty yard dash at the #NFLCombine to go along with a 38in. vertical.
— Christian Shanafelt (@ChrisShanafelt) April 25, 2020
A whole lot of speed here for the Bears’ third 5th round pick today. https://t.co/XIIEsKidR1

Taylor Gabriel is Darnell Mooney lite.

Bears trade up for Darnell Mooney, truly one of the last speedy WRs in the draft. Filling a HUGE need.

Get us a solid guard and RB2 and were looking good.

The Bears got more than just blazing speed with WR Darnell Mooney.

He can make plays like this. pic.twitter.com/7XAChLDB81
He fast

New #Bears WR Darnell Mooney has a 40-time of 4.38 seconds listed. @dpbrugler: "Mooney is tougher than he looks, but he must better control his dynamic athleticism to make it in the NFL as a consistent weapon."
— Adam Jahns (@adamjahns) April 25, 2020
Speed receiver was a 'must have' in this draft, and at 4.38 in the 40, Mooney fits the bill. The drops are a concern, but at this stage of the draft, this is great value.

Our draft analyst Jacob Infante has a thread with highlights and scouting analysis so make sure to check that out:
THREAD: Tulane WR Darnell Mooney is the pick for the #Bears at No. 173, and I think he’s a wide receiver who’s well worth trading up for.
