Vote on your Favorite Championship Belt Series Poster - 2nd Round

New, comments

It’s a tournament of champions! Vote now on your favorite from the series!

The first round of the Championship Belt Series poster contest delivered some surprise results. Somehow, some way, a laughable photoshop effort toppled my secret number one overall seed (you monsters!). A few of the other favorites survived early voting scares while we might have uncovered a few dark horse candidates that voters embraced.

The biggest victory, a 58-11 blowout, was the Forged in Fire poster featuring Hall of Famers Doug Atkins and Mike Ditka over fellow Hall of Famers Bronko Nagurski and Bill Hewitt in the Duel in the Depression. That followed one clear theme as posters from the early years of Bears history struggled and everything before the Bulldog Turner poster covering the 1948-1949 bout lost their match.

Only two match ups were decided by less than a 10 vote margin. The first saw the Akiem Hicks v Jordan Howard “Soldier Field Slugfest” eke by “Trench Warfare” by a mere seven votes. The other was an epic battle between the Jay Cuter v Kyle Long poster that used a Sherlock Holmes theme (A Study in Navy & Orange) tied on the website with the Mike Singletary v Dan Hampton “Donnybrook at the Dojo.” The preference of Twitter voters decided that one as the Dojo found enough mojo in the Twitterverse.

As the dust settles, we’ve got 16 posters remaining and we’ll continue to march on with the next 8 duels below. Thanks for following along and for voting! If you missed anything from the series, please click on these links: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, & Part 5.

Reminder: We’re looking for your favorite. It could be the overall aesthetic, the name of the match, the images used, if it makes you laugh, makes you want to put a copy on your wall, or a combination of all of those factors. There is no wrong answer on this one! (Except, of course, knocking out my favorite poster with a sad photoshop effort).

Polls will be open for about 24 hours!
