Bears edge rusher Khalil Mack has been ranked as the No. 19 player on the 2020 NFL Top 100 list.
The appearance marks Mack’s sixth consecutive appearance on the annual list, having placed in the top 50 every single year since his debut in the rankings in 2015. He has also placed in the top 20 for five consecutive seasons. While falling from his prestigious No. 3 overall ranking from last year’s NFL Top 100 list, finishing as the No. 19 player in the league according to his peers is still quite the accomplishment. His total of 8.5 sacks was his first time finishing below 10 sacks since his rookie year in 2014, but he still managed to lead the Bears in that category. Mack also placed second in the league with 30 quarterback hurries, as well as finishing seventh with 45 pressures. He made the Pro Bowl for his efforts, his fifth-straight nod.
While Mack’s numbers look down upon first glance, he was still an effective pass rusher who required extra attention from opposing offensive linemen. With the return of Akiem Hicks and the addition of Robert Quinn to Chicago’s defense, Mack should be in for more opportunities to make plays in 2020.
Mack joins Allen Robinson as the only two Bears players to appear on this year’s NFL Top 100 rankings. While the total falls short of the four players to make it onto last year’s list, it’s still more representation than the team had from 2015 to 2018, when they only had one player—Matt Forte in 2015—make an appearance.
