There were a few Chicago Bears injury updates from head coach Matt Nagy today in his post practice press conference, but the most serious was the team placing tight end Darion Clark on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Clark was working on converting to football after playing college basketball at three different colleges, the most notable being at USC.
With Clark on IR that leaves the Bears with only six tight ends on the current roster; Jimmy Graham, Demetrius Harris, J.P. Holtz, Jesper Horsted, Eric Saubert, and rookie Cole Kmet.
The Bears also held defensive lineman Akiem Hicks out of today’s practice with a quad injury, and inside linebacker Josh Woods missed with a groin injury. Neither injury is expected to be serious.
Nagy mentioned that the Bears are close to the time of camp where he’ll be giving some of his older players a “vet day” off here or there just to help manage the aches and pains.
