Leming: Trubisky kept job due to pandemic

Aaron Leming previews the Bears’ season on Bill Zimmerman’s latest Bears Banter Podcast. This one is a must listen!

The Bears Banter Podcast has returned to preview the Chicago Bears’ 2020 season with Aaron Leming! Leming, as usual, delivers a great interview full of opinions.

We discuss the Nick Foles vs Mitchell Trubisky situation in full, how the competition played out, the decision to go with Trubisky itself and what kind of leash he will have in the regular season. Can the Bears run the football this year and what type of impact can we expect from Juan Castillo? Do the Bears have enough weapons on offense regardless of who is throwing the football? Plus, can the defense return to the more dynamic 2018 version?

When discussing the Bears’ QB situation, we discussed the rather abnormal offseason and how much impact it had on the competition. Aaron Leming thought it had a significant impact. “I think if anything, COVID definitely hurt this [competition],” Leming said. “I think you could make the argument for a lot of other quarterbacks they could have brought in or may have brought in. I don’t think Trubisky’s the starter for this team if it’s a normal offseason for sure.”
