Earlier in the week veteran kicker Eddy Pineiro was placed on injured reserve due to a groin injury. He will miss, at least, the first three weeks per the new rules for such designations.
In his place will be Cairo Santos, who was called up from the 16-man practice squad. This was announced earlier today by the Chicago Bears’ official site.
We have moved K Cairo Santos to the active roster.@Hyundai | #DaBears

This will be Carlos Santos’s second stint with the Chicago Bears. For anyone needing a refresher, he was first signed in 2017 as the initial replacement for Connor Barth. He went 1-for-2 in FG attempts before landing on injured reserve...with a groin injury.
Allegedly, Santos was fairly dependable during the abbreviated training camp while filling in for Eddy Pineiro. And, the plan will be for the Bears to keep Santos around just in case anything else happens during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll keep you all updated as more information becomes available.
