The Chicago Bears released their first official 53-man roster late yesterday afternoon. Of course, that is also the initial 53-man roster, which almost always looks different than when week one of the regular season actually kicks off.
One major change has already been made.
Earlier this morning, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the Bears have signed former New Orleans Saints DE Mario Edwards. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet.
The #Bears have agreed to terms with veteran DE Mario Edwards, source says. Former second-round pick was released by the #Saints yesterday.

Originally, Mario Edwards was drafted by the (then) Oakland Raiders in the 2nd round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Following his release in 2018, he signed with the New York Giants, then with the New Orleans Saints in 2019. Last season, in 14 games played, he recorded 3 sacks and 2 tackles for loss, on top of 8 total tackles.
No corresponding moves have been reported or announced by the Bears just yet.
There has been suspicions circulating regarding Eddy Pineiro possibly starting the season on injured reserve, so stay tuned for more of the latest updates here on Windy City Gridiron.
