Last week I had my best week of the season picking the Bears, as I was on the correct (winning) side of the game for a change. I had the Bears +5.5 and under the total and both hit.
I also hit my survivor pick (Patriots) but had to sweat that one out since New England let the Texans hang around all day.
Elsewhere in the survivor pool, no one that has made a pick every week has been eliminated, which is good, however one person did take a strike on the Panthers.
In the pick ‘ems league, I came up with a respectable 11 point week, but others fared better, including Macksmith, who paced the field with a 14 point week. MonstersoftheMidway once again took the lead back with a 13-point week. They have 56 points ahead of Ya Bish! with 55.
This week, the Bears have the Packers and I don’t have to tell you that the series has been very lopsided and hope on the Chicago side remains somewhat elusive.
But there are some things that should make fans believe that the Bears do have a chance.
Green Bay Packers (-5) vs. Chicago Bears (O/U 44)
The Packers have covered four straight in this series, going back to 2018, when the Bears covered both contests and the last time the Bears won outright (24-17 in week 15 of 2018).
Green Bay is also 3-1-1 against the number this year while Chicago is a respectable 3-2 and come in covering two straight.
The Packer defense is banged up though and comes in allowing 24 points per game, so perhaps the recently revamped offense can find some points.
I know the Packers have owned the Bears in recent years and I know that the secondary has some holes that Rodgers will want to exploit but I just feel like the defense is playing really well right now. The Packers are too banged up to completely shut the Bears down.
So maybe I’m crazy, but I’ll lay the points with the Bears and hope they keep it close. That said though, while I should probably take the under, I still think this one ends up being just over, perhaps like 24-21 or 27-23.
In survivor I currently have the Colts locked in against the Texans, but I may chicken out there but when else are you going to feel OK picking the Colts other than one of their games against the Jaguars?
Picks: Bears +5, over 44, Colts (survivor)
Bears pick record: 4-6 overall, 2-3 ATS
