The nature of these weekly confidence polls have them going up with a win and down with a loss, even though the question specifically asks what we think about the direction of the Chicago Bears franchise. With so much angst surrounding head coach Matt Nagy I just figured more of our Reacts’ voters would stick to their guns and vote displeasure in the direction of the franchise, because the more this team wins the more likely it is that they’ll keep both Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace in 2022.
I’m resigned to that fact already, because the only way I see wholesale changes is with a disastrous 2021 season (5 or 6 wins) and the rookie quarterback not showing any promise under the leadership of this coaching staff.
And since I think Justin Fields will grow and flash, and since I see this team hovering around .500 all season long, I can’t see George McCaskey pink slipping Nagy or Pace.
Here’s where your confidence is in the Bears’ franchise right now.
After a season low 4% following the Cleveland Browns beatdown, our confidence level went up to 35% after knocking off the Detroit Lions at Soldier Fields. It soared to 66% after the Bears beat the Raiders in Las Vegas, so I can only imagine we’ll be knocking on the door of this year’s high of 88% (which we hit after the NFL Draft) if the Bears can take out the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
While a win will certainly push the confidence level up, I would imagine that number would increase if Fields makes a statement regardless of the outcome too.
What is the most important thing for the Bears this Sunday?
