The Bears confirmed Tuesday that linebacker Robert Quinn has been added to the Reserve-COVID-19 List.
Quinn has had an exciting start to his 2021 season. His 5.5 sacks are second on the team only to Khalil Mack’s 6.0, and the two have formed a fearsome duo collapsing pockets for opposing quarterbacks. Quinn is a former 1st-round pick who has 2 Pro Bowls on his résumé and has a chance to make his third this season.
In the same announcement, the Bears confirmed they’ve placed safety Deon Bush on short-term injured reserve. Bush saw action on 2 snaps last Sunday against the Packers, logging a tackle on special teams, but came out with a quad injury and was then considered doubtful to return. He’ll miss a minimum of three games per the NFL’s modified IR rules.
The Bears are promoting defensive back Teez Tabor to the active roster, presumably to fill in for Bush on special teams and provide depth on defense.
The Bears also signed running back Chris Thompson to the practice squad. Thompson was recently released from the 49ers practice squad and saw action last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thompson has been in the league since 2013.
