On Saturday the Chicago Bears’ Public Relations department Tweeted out that the team has downgraded Andy Dalton from questionable to doubtful and that Justin Fields would get the start at quarterback on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Those sneaky Bears likely knew this all along, but they wanted to keep the Lions guessing.
With Detroit’s walk-through complete, and their team likely in their Chicagoland hotel right now, the Lions’ coaches will really need to scramble to finalize and re-work their game plan to make sure their players are fully prepared to face Fields and not the injured Dalton.
The Bears have not revealed who will be the primary play caller on Sunday afternoon, so at least they still have that ace up their sleeves.
Dalton being downgraded was the only change made to either team’s injury report, but the Lions did elevate kicker Ryan Santoso from their Practice Squad to the Active/Inactive list as a COVID-19 Replacement.
The Bears did not make any moves from their practice squad today for tomorrow’s game.
