Bears Roster Moves: Larry Borom activated, Khalil Mack does not head to IR

On Saturday the Chicago Bears announced that rookie offensive tackle Larry Borom was activated to the 53-man roster from his injured reserve practice window. He hurt his ankle back on September 12 in the Bears’ week one contest against the Rams, and getting him back will bolster their depth as they ready to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Borom could be in the mix to start at right tackle with previous starter Elijah Wilkinson just coming off the Reserve/COVID-19 list yesterday. Alex Bars, who finished up at right tackle last Sunday, could be considered as well.

Khalil Mack, who was already ruled out for Sunday’s game, was not placed on injured reserve today which was speculated on. IR rules dictate that he’d miss a minimum of three games, so with the Bears having their bye in in a couple weeks, that would have meant the earliest Mack could have returned is the Thanksgiving game against the Lions.

With tight end Jimmy Graham still on the Reserve/COVID-19 list the Bears are able to activate a player from the practice squad to take his roster spot.

Here’s one more bit of Bears news from today.
