This latest round of Chicago Bears confidence results came in before head coach Matt Nagy made the announcement we’ve all been waiting for when he named Justin Fields the team’s new starting quarterback.
“I told you the last couple of weeks we’ve had some good conversations internally,” Nagy said at Wednesday’s press conference. “It’s helped us in the last couple. Continuing that process this week it’s led to making the decision to move with Justin as the starter.”
Not just the starter for now, but the starter from now on.
“This is Justin’s time,” Nagy said.
After the Bears moved up to take Fields in the NFL Draft, our SB Nation Reacts results were at a 2021 high of 88%, but our confidence quickly plummeted when it was revealed that the Bears weren’t going to allow him to compete with Andy Dalton for the starting job. We were at a 58% confidence level before week one.
After the Los Angeles Rams smacked the Bears around that number dropped to 28%, but then a win against the Bengals, and Fields’ first extended action, brought the confidence number up to 49%.
But the the Browns happened, and Bears’ fans had the least amount of confidence among all 32 fanbases at a measly 4%.
Beating Detroit gave us a bump to 35%, and I would imagine this week’s game in Las Vegas is more contingent on Fields playing well than it does the Bears beating the Raiders for our confidence results.
Fields looking good will give our fanbase hope, but right now, knowing this is his job and he’ll be allowed to grow into it, where is your confidence in the Bears right now?
