One of this week’s national questions from SB Nation Reacts was — Which rookie QB do you want for this season?
I’m guessing that most Chicago Bears’ fans went with our guy, Justin Fields, but since this question went out to the Reacts’ voters of all 32 teams, Fields came in third at 16%.
And while I disagree, I can’t argue with the results right now, because New England’s Mac Jones has looked like the best first year quarterback through 4 games. He’s completing 70% of his passes, he’s averaging 253 yards per game, and he has 4 passing touchdowns to 4 interceptions.
Trevor Lawrence’s 5 TD passes is the most of the five rookie first round QBs, and he’s completing 57% of his passes for 218 yards a game, but his 7 interceptions is second most in the NFL.
Statistically speaking, Fields might be the worst of the bunch so far with a 48.1 completion percentage, 347 passing yards, and 2 picks, but Bears fans know the potential he has after last week’s 12.3 yards per attempt.
Trey Lance is the only one who has yet to start a game, but reports have him in line to be QB1 for the 49ers tomorrow. In spot duty he has thrown for 3 TDs in three games.
Zach Wilson leads the NFL with 8 interceptions, but he’s averaged 231 yards passing per game this season with 4 TDs while completing passes at a a 56.8% clip.
What do you think about the Reacts’ results this week? How would you rank these 5 right now?
